On behalf of the Institute of Visual Informatics
and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, it is my great pleasure and honour to
warmly welcome our distinguished delegation from Minnan Normal University to
UKM.
We are truly delighted to host you today and deeply
appreciate your visit, which reflects a shared commitment to strengthening
academic ties, advancing research collaboration, and fostering meaningful
international engagement between our two institutions.
Minnan Normal University is a highly respected
institution with a proud history, strong academic foundations, and an
impressive record in teaching, research, and international collaboration. Its
achievements as a “Double First-Class” university in Fujian Province, as well
as its strengths in science, engineering, education, and cultural studies,
resonate strongly with UKM’s own mission and aspirations.
At IVI, we focus on cutting-edge research and
innovation in areas such as visual informatics, artificial intelligence, data
analytics, robotics, and intelligent systems. We firmly believe that today’s
engagement opens valuable opportunities for collaboration in joint research,
talent development, postgraduate supervision, staff and student mobility, and
industry-linked innovation—particularly through the proposed Talent Development
& Innovation Co-Research Center.
This visit, and the signing of the Letter of Intent
later today, marks an important milestone. It is not merely a formal agreement,
but a statement of mutual trust and a shared vision for long-term, impactful cooperation
between IVI, UKM and Minnan Normal University.
I am confident that through continued dialogue,
mutual respect, and a spirit of partnership, our collaboration will grow from
strength to strength, contributing not only to our institutions, but also to
the broader goals of regional connectivity, knowledge exchange, and sustainable
development between Malaysia and China.
Once again, welcome to Universiti Kebangsaan
Malaysia and to the Institute of Visual Informatics. I hope we will have a
productive discussion, an enjoyable visit, and lasting memories of your time
with us.
