The 4th Industrial Revolution

 ENGLISH:

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) refers to the shift towards digitalisation, as advancements in technology for example, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and automation. These shall change the way we live our lives. It is set to send ripples of change throughout the world. This will certainly require both big and small businesses to innovate, to stay relevant and competitive in the global market.

In addition to the above, 4IR acknowledged the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for the country to transition into a knowledge and innovation-based society. It has been widely reported that the fourth industrial revolution could lead to many jobs being replaced by robots or AI. With each new industrial revolution, there are a shift in the types of jobs within the affected sectors. Some roles will become extinct, demand will be created for newer roles essential to the running of the new technology. Those with digital technology skills will be in high demand. Hence, our country must be prepared for this.

Revolusi Perindustrian Ke-Empat (4IR) merujuk kepada peralihan ke arah digitalisasi, sebagai kemajuan dalam teknologi. Contohnya, Internet of Things (IoT), Kecerdasan Buatan (AI), dan automasi. Ini tentu sekali akan mengubah cara hidup kita. Era 4IR akan mewujudkan gelombang perubahan di seluruh dunia. Dari segi perniagaan, ini tentunya memerlukan kedua-dua industri besar dan kecil untuk berinovasi, supaya kekal relevan dan berdaya saing dalam pasaran global.

Di samping itu, 4IR juga mengiktiraf kepentingan sains, teknologi, kejuruteraan dan matematik (STEM). Malaysia perlu siap siaga untuk beralih ke masyarakat berasaskan pengetahuan dan inovasi. Telah banyak dilaporkan bahawa 4IR dapat menyebabkan banyak pekerjaan digantikan oleh robot atau AI. Dengan setiap revolusi industri baru, terdapat perubahan dalam jenis pekerjaan di dalam sektor yang terjejas. Sesetengah peranan akan pupus, permintaan akan diwujudkan untuk peranan baru yang lebih penting dalam mengendalikan teknologi terkini. Mereka yang mempunyai kemahiran teknologi digital akan mendapat permintaan tinggi. Oleh itu, negara kita mesti bersedia untuk ini.
